New challenges and sketches

I've been busy sketching, just haven't had time to post them. These are a bunch of sketches and EDM challenges I've been doing. I had been thinking about the something dangerous challenge and knew I wanted to do chocolate, and then I found the chocolate frog this morning and knew I had to do that challenge right away! I also tried the bicycle challenge but I'm not showing you that one - I'll have to do another. :)

Two new nature sketches

I've been wanting to get back outside to sketch and paint these for a couple of weeks and today I finally did it! I'm trying to beat the first frost.....

I'm not sure what the name of the second one is, it's a succulent, I'll have to look it up. I think the first one is a cone flower but I could be wrong....

It was a beautiful fall day, 70 degrees with that fall chill in the air. The sky has turned from the turquoise of the summer sky to almost a deep cornflower blue of autumn. Hopefully this year we'll get more snow, we were one area of Colorado that hardly got any snow last winter.

EDM challenge #19 - draw something you've made

Drawing this quilt proved to be more difficult than I thought, especially with just pen and ink - no eraser! I messed up and didn't get the folds right so had to just wing it with the squares... Decided to add some color this morning with colored pencils. I'll have to try drawing another quilt, maybe with a few less folds......

EDM #37- draw some keys

Here's another challenge from the Everyday Matters group. I was surprised this turned out so well. I've never thought of drawing my keys, antique skeleton keys yes, but modern keys no. I did cheat and take one of the key rings off, that seemed a little too daunting. This is done in pen and ink and colored pencil for the heart. I'm getting more used to using just a pen and foregoing the pencil.

One of the things I like about the EDM challenges is that it makes you stretch and has you draw things you would never even consider normally. Plus some of them just seem like they would be too hard, but once you sit down and focus you can draw them! One of these days I'll have to attempt faces. I've never been very good at drawing faces, of course I've never practiced at it either....

EDM #8- and more

Well so much for drawing everyday. I have been doing art, just not sketching. My bad. Here are a couple of new ones. The silverware sketch is after not drawing for a week, ugh! It's pretty bad! I really have to make myself sketch something (even if it's just a quick sketch) every day. Speaking of silverware, I found myself checking out the silverware for patterns to draw while I was at the thrift store and brought some new patterns home. :)
