Lilacs sketch

The lilacs bloomed beautifully this year! One of my bushes was just loaded! I brought in a couple of sprigs and put them in a huge ball jar I have. Back when I was doing just painting I would do a watercolor still life with lilacs every year. You really have to draw fast to capture them before they wilt. They usually only last one day. They smell so wonderful! I really wish they could bloom all summer! One of these days maybe I'll post some photos of my paintings...

Oooh. I love these drawings. I sat around in my studio today thinking...."I have nothing to draw" (translates as, I don't feel like drawing anything that I see) Thanks for the reminder that every little thing can be a thing of beauty.

My lilacs have been done for quite awhile, so how nice to see these!! They're really lovely! Lilacs are (maybe just for me?) such a difficult subject, as is any flower made up of little clusters.

Beautiful! Can't imagine how long it took you to capture the detail in the flowers.
